How many client requests Telegram groups bring in a year

· Pingfinch

Over a year, 17 public Telegram sources around Alicante on the Costa Blanca, almost all of them Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking groups, sent one Pingfinch subscription 6,406 notifications about transfer and ride requests: 335 in December 2025, 712 in August 2026. Five groups produced 60% of them, and four of those five were general town, neighbour and parent chats. The busiest hours were 10:00 to 17:00 local summer time, and Saturday and Sunday were 12% and 21% quieter than an average weekday.

Where do these figures come from?

Pingfinch watches the public Telegram groups and channels a client picks, compares each new message with the client’s instruction (a plain-language description of the requests they want) and sends a Telegram notification when one matches. Messages without a single word, messages with words from the subscription’s “🔇 Don't send” rules and near-copies of messages already rejected for it are dropped first; an AI model judges the rest.

The case is one client’s subscription for transfer and ride requests in Russian- and Ukrainian-speaking chats on the coast of Alicante province, Spain, from 27 August 2025 to 24 September 2026. Only totals left the database; group titles, message texts and the authors’ details did not.

How many requests come in each month?

Notifications by month
  • 27 to 31 August 2025: 98
  • Autumn (September, October, November): 460, 404, 382
  • Winter (December, January, February): 335, 371, 417
  • Spring 2026 (March, April, May): 527, 506, 573
  • Summer (June, July, August): 522, 588, 712
  • September 2026, up to the 24th: 511

December brought less than half of August’s total, yet the sources still sent about 11 notifications a day. A quiet winter month doesn’t prove a group is dead, so compare it with your other groups over the same month. The “📢 Sources” screen in the Pingfinch bot already shows how many requests each chat brought in the last 7 and 30 days.

Which groups bring the most requests?

A group about travelling around Spain came first with 21.9%. The next seven gave 7.0% to 10.2% each, and all seven are general chats: town chats for Calpe, Torrevieja, Benidorm and Alicante, a neighbours’ chat, a parents’ chat and a chat for Ukrainian refugees in Alicante. Together they gave 61%, so don’t skip a group because it isn’t about your trade. The top five groups produced 60% of all notifications and the top eight 83%.

Per week, counted from each source’s first notification, the median source gave 7.9 notifications, the bottom quarter 2.3 or fewer, the top quarter 10.4 or more, and the busiest group 42.

The guide to choosing Telegram groups shows how to check a group before you join. When a chat added more than 30 days ago has brought nothing in the last 30 days, the bot marks it with 🔕 in a running subscription as one you could replace.

On which days and at what hours do people ask?

The current version of Pingfinch skips messages more than an hour old, so a notification arrives close to the time the request was posted. The hours below are converted from UTC to mainland Spain’s local time.

When notifications arrived (totals for the year)
  • Weekdays: from 923 on Fridays to 993 on Tuesdays
  • Saturday: 842, 12% below an average weekday; Sunday: 757, 21% below
  • Night: 19 to 35 per hour
  • 10:00 to 17:00 in summer (09:00 to 16:00 in winter): 417 to 474 per hour, about half of all notifications
  • 17:00 to 21:00 in summer: over 300 per hour

The weekend brought a quarter of all notifications, so a driver who ignores the groups on Saturday and Sunday leaves one request in four until Monday. Pingfinch keeps reading at night and at weekends, and next to the source each notification shows how long ago the message was posted.

Do Telegram channels bring requests?

In a group, members post, including people who need a ride; in a channel, only the owner and admins do. This subscription got only 15 of its 6,406 notifications from a channel. For contrast, a second client’s subscription in the same database picked retail news from channels:

Fits: Groups: transfer requests

People post when they need to travel. Saturday and Sunday were 12% and 21% quieter than weekdays, and five groups gave 60% of the notifications.

Does not fit: Channels: retail news

159 channels, 4,981 notifications from 3 September to 21 November 2025. Weekends were about 65% quieter than weekdays, the top five channels gave 31%, and it took 40 channels to reach 80%.

Newsrooms post on their own schedule, which says nothing about when clients ask. Pingfinch reads channels too if they have a public @username, so judge one in your trade by its history, as you would a group.

How do you measure your own groups?

  1. 1

Read back four to eight weeks

In every group, weekends included. One quiet week tells you little.

  2. 2

    Label the requests

Separate client requests from ads and job posts with the labels from the guide below, and note the day and hour of each.

  3. 3

    Keep one line per group

Weeks read, requests found, requests per week, the hours they appeared and the month.

  4. 4

Compare groups within the same month

Treat this article’s figures as a benchmark only if you also drive people around the Costa Blanca.

Once you start monitoring, Pingfinch keeps the per-chat count for you, but it can’t show what the filter missed: a request you labelled that never became a notification. The article on testing a Telegram request filter explains how to measure both kinds of error.

Where do you start?

Start free in the Pingfinch bot: create a subscription, add public groups by @username or t.me link and describe the requests you want. The transport example shows ride requests being picked out; the Pricing page has the terms after the free period.

FAQ

Is a notification the same as a booked ride?

No. It means a message matched the instruction. You find out whether the author still needs a driver and whether the route and date suit you when you open the message and reply.
